Welcome new students!

Today was the first enrollment session for the new post-grad students, so on behalf of the MUBS and MAPPS team: welcome everyone!

You will probably be feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the information provided at enrollment, but don't stress - it's all easier from here.

Orientation Week
First things first, come along to orientation week. You'll get a feel for the campus and where everything is and will meet your fellow students. We have heaps going on during the week. Check out the online orientation planner at the link below. Select Berwick campus and your faculty. This will tell you where you need to be.
https://eplanner.adm.monash.edu.au/eorientation/

Your plan will look something like this (correct today - sometimes there change a bit so double check the online planner):

Monday February 22
10:30 AM Official welcome to Monash
Library tours - various times, book online (really worth attending - will help HEAPS when you start researching)
MUBS (your student union) is running a carnival of things to see from student services, the faculties and student run clubs and associations. This is in the courtyard of building 901 (next to the library).

Tuesday February 23
9:30 AM Education faculty orientation (MANDATORY if you are in Education)
There might be something for other Berwick faculties that should be posted online soon.

Optional extras
There are some other OPTIONAL social activities run by MUBS
Talk to one of our friendly MUBS team during orientation week to find out more...

Tuesday February 23
6:00 PM - 1:00 AM Party bus tour

Wednesday February 24
8:00 PM MUBS orientation week Hawaiian beach party ($5)

Friday February 26
11:00 AM New student camp ($95)

Next steps...
Parking at Berwick
If you plan to drive to Berwick you need a parking permit. Blue student permits cost about $200.
Purchasing opens on Monday 1st of February and can be accessed here:
http://www.monash.edu/people/transport-parking/permits/purchase

Got a class at Clayton? Don't stress - it's easy!
If you have a class at Clayton campus (Masters of Teaching: Primary and Secondary students) don't panic - once your parking permit arrives in the mail head to Monash connect (where you got your student card at enrollment) and tell them you need a cross campus permit. They will check you have a class at Clayton then give you a new permit with a white cross through it. This is the ONLY way you can use your Berwick permit at Clayton. Don't tempt it without a cross - you will get a fine! The parking guys down there are really on the ball.

Books
Yep some of your subjects require a textbook. You can buy these online or at the bookshop at Berwick. You can also get books at Clayton if it's closer to home. Same books and same price.

Your first classes!!
Here's something I learned in my first week... Lecturers publish reading lists for your subjects. You need to do your week's reading BEFORE going to the classes. So if you want a head start get your week 1 reading done before you rock up to class in week 1.
